A public lecture tracing the influence of the mediaeval Arthurian Legend on Tolkien's Middle-earth writings. Special attention will be given to ideas of heroism and fate in certain versions of the Arthur story and how these texts and themes resurface in Tolkien's Saga of Jewels and Rings.
